How to Sew a Cotton Laundry Bag Yourself?
Even with minimal sewing skills, you can sew up a tough cotton laundry bag for assorting laundry items. Choose a strong and durable cloth material for the bag. While denim makes a good choice, cotton fabrics like canvas will do an even better job. Cut the cloth into two pieces of 24 by 26 inches. Now, pin up the right sides of the fabric leaving a narrow unpinned side for the opening of the bag.
Sew a half inch seam on a side and back stitch a few to start. Sew 2 inches again and the backstitch leaving a 1 inch gap. Resume backstitching up to the first pivot corner, bottom and 3 inches on the top. Now finish the seam by backstitching both the ends. By pressing the seam open, turn out the side of the bag. Sew the opening in a zigzag fashion. Create a 1 inch hem and sew close to the edge around the bag.
Cut the cord into equal pieces and tie it up in a knot. Now attach a safety pin at the open end of the cord to guide you through the hemline. Repeat the process with the other cord and tie large knots to avoid pulling through.
